Moving Back to Move Forward

« Back to Blog

It never ceases to amuse me how life throws a little irony in our direction. As some of you may know, we are in the process of remodeling our office, including building a virtual reality greenscreen studio, and a nice, closed off office for editing. It’s going to be much nicer than the so-called “warehouse” I was working in before, and it will make it much easier for me to work with our customers.

The irony is that at the moment, most of my computer is piled on tables and I’m typing this from a temporary setup in the front of the office. I suppose things have to get worse before they can get better, but even so it’s amusing that in the name of orderliness and progress, I’ve sitting in the middle of chaos and disorder. Such is life, though.

You know, I honestly believe that that principle applies to more than just remodeling. It can fit life in many areas. Lots of people never change or move forward because they are too comfortable where they are. They aren’t willing to move back to move forward. It’s easy to get stuck in a comfort zone, and stop progressing. Moving ahead isn’t easy. It takes work, it takes time, and sometimes it takes mess and disorder too. But the end result is almost always better.

After all, when the work is finished I’ll be working in a nice, enclosed, organized, professional office, and we will have the ability to shoot some mind blowing virtual reality here in studio.

We aren’t afraid to step back here in the office. We want to move forward, so we are willing to make these short term sacrifices for long-term gains. At Edit Access, it’s about looking ahead, and not staying stuck in our comfort zone.

How about you? Are you stuck in a comfort zone? Don’t be afraid to move back to move forward.

It’s worth it.

Cheerio!
